Bruno’s Ladder

I’ve almost finished Philip Roth’s The Plot Against America and have two things I want the world to know: 1. I will finish it today, November 29, 2025, and shed at least one tear, and 2. I was previously convinced that Bruno Hauptmann was guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of kidnapping baby Lindbergh and that his motive was ransom money, but now I’m not so sure. I mean, what was proven at his trial is probably the whole truth. BUT an alternative theory is described in the book that is intriguing. I’ll just leave it at that. Justice for Bruno?? No. Never. Don’t you know about Bruno’s ladder?? Also the door frame leading to his attic? The evidence of guilt is overwhelming…

Update December 1, 2025: No tears were shed.
